This month SAS president, Chris Nixon defers space to recognize SAS secretary,

Emma Narotzky

Emma started participating in SAS activities soon after moving to Bozeman in 2015. She’s been a nature-watcher since the age of about two and hasn’t seen a living creature she couldn’t appreciate.

She also enjoys reading, fencing, skiing, horseback riding, and creating unique art. She especially likes being outside making observations. Her undergraduate years in Iowa found her outside “turtling”, attaching transmitters to ornate box turtle hatchlings and monitoring their movements around their natal dune.

At MSU she got outside with the Cooperative Predator Communication Consortium, monitoring the vocalizations of wolves in Yellowstone National Park by setting up recorders and combining the information with sightings and location data from collars.

For the past four years, Emma has served on the SAS board as secretary and assisted with or participated in various SAS activities, such as the Bridger Raptor Festival, World Migratory Bird Day, Birdathons, and field trips.
