Survival By Degrees: 389 Bird Species on the Brink

Great Gray Owl by Traci Sepkovic

Five years ago, National Audubon looked into what birds were telling usĀ about climate change, and what they found out was thatĀ more than half of the birds in North America would be atĀ risk by century’s end. This year, NAS scientists once againĀ surveyed the effects of climate change on America’sĀ birds, this time with more sophisticated research toolsĀ and an expanded regional analysis that included MexicoĀ as well as the United States and Canada.

Our findings in this report are the fifth alarm in a fivealarmĀ fire. Still, there is reason for hope if we act now.
