Dear SAS Book Club Members,
The results of the vote for book selections for the 2023-2024 season are in! You helped us select:
- Two conservation classics (Biophilia, 1984; Silent Spring, 1962);
- Two award-winning books in which the birds and wildlife of Montana play major roles (Halcyon Journey: In Search of the Belted Kingfisher, 2022; Fox and I, 2021);
- A cautionary tale of the historical destruction of bogs and peatlands, and how this affects our climate today (Fen, Bog and Swamps: A Short History of Peatland Destruction and Its Role in the Climate Crisis, 2022);
- An inspirational biography of a Canadian conservationist (Woman, Watching: Louise de Kiriline Lawrence and the Songbirds of Pimisi Bay, 2022); and
- A nonfiction “conservation thriller” from the Primorye, a remote area of far east Russia, home of endangered fishing owls and Amur tigers (The Tiger: A True Tale of Vengeance and Survival, 2010).
