Bird Walks and Field Trips
Learn about our area bird life and local birding hotspots with expert birders. SAS offers both short and longer outings.
Our Bird Walks are perfect for beginners, novices, or for birders who only have a couple of hours to spend. Our two current bird walk locations are Story Mill Community Park and the Indreland Audubon Wetland Preserve. They are usually weekly and don’t require sign-up. The bird walks are only offered in May & June.
SAS Field Trips are longer outings that require sign-up and carpooling. Driving distances vary. The trips generally focus on different types of habitat that attract different species of birds. These trips are great for meeting other birders and exploring different areas. They are appropriate for all levels of birders. Field trips are offered most months of the year, other than January, February, July, August & December.
Overnight Birding Tours feature destinations such as Red Rock Lakes NWR, Freezeout Lake NWR and sage grouse leks near Dillon. Transportation, accommodations, food and guides are included for a fee.
