As the snow finally recedes and we welcome warmer weather, it’s time to think about creating some habitat in your yard for birds and pollinators. This can be anything from a few pots of Bee Balm on your deck, to a native plant biohedge. Using native plants is critical. They provide the most benefit to pollinators and birds, and they are adapted to our climate.

The point is to make a start—and make a difference. If you need inspiration, check out Sacajawea Audubon Society’s Bird-Friendly Demo Garden at Story Mill Community Park. You can also attend a free “Landscaping For Birds” workshop on July 15th. Another great resource is Douglas Tallamy’s book, Nature’s Best Hope.

You really can make a difference!
