October 14th- Madison Valley IBA Survey

Ennis Lake (Photo by Beth Johns)

The birds are on the move again with Ennis Lake serving as an important stopover for large numbers of migrating waterfowl, loons, grebes, and, of course, thousands of coots. Last year's fall survey found 96 Common Loons on the lake, almost 300 Western Grebes, hundreds of Ruddy Ducks, and a variety of raptors and passerines in the valley. On October 14th (Saturday) we will conduct one last survey of the Madison Valley IBA and its always a fun day out birding as we add to our data base for this Important Bird Area.

If you can help, email Paulette at bigskyepples@msn.com or call 580-6186. We will meet at the Ennis Pharmacy Café in Ennis by 7:45 am. Come early if you would like to eat breakfast there. We should be finished by early afternoon.
